But a man's got to make his way

I finished working in Tulsa this morning. I'm back in St. Louis tonight for a (hopefully) low-key New Year's Eve. I hope everyone has a nice and safe New Year's.

It's been an interesting year, and it was as topsy-turvy as most. I don't typically make resolutions, and tonight is no different. I just hope to make good decisions in the future... as opposed to some of the bad ones I've made in the past.

Who am I kidding?

More to come...

Now the cafe's filled with people tellin' lies

The Cherry Street Market area in Tulsa is similar to the CWE in St. Louis or Hillsboro Village in Nashville.

Relent to the devil in the cold cold ground

If you ever decide to visit downtown Tulsa on a Sunday, be prepared to be the ONLY person there. Seriously, I walked 10 blocks before I saw another person walking around.

It's even a place where impromptu car shows take place in the middle of a downtown street... and nobody cares.

Join the triumph of the skies

Where is God's money?

Last Sunday, I took the opportunity to tour Oral Roberts University, here in Tulsa. I had heard the architecture is strange, and it looks like a UFO landed in the middle of campus. I'd say that pretty much sums it up. I'm sure the design was cutting edge back in the 60's, but there is nothing timeless about the buildings.
-
They are having some trouble on campus these days, but it appears that Oral Roberts himself has arisen to face the allegations for his son.

Our Favorite Son

I also worked in the small town of Oologah, OK. Oologah is the birthplace of Will Rogers (everything in this area is dedicated to him). Here are some pics from around Oologah and his home ranch (on the Oologah Reservoir).

Feel what makes him what he is

I've been working in Claremore, OK for the most part... excuse me, it's Claremore!. It's the hometown of Will Rogers - or one of them communities around here that lays claim to him. But, it is the location of the Will Rogers Memorial. I took an opportunity to check it out one afternoon when I finished my appointments. I didn't know much about the man prior, but he was definitely a renaissance man.

He had a great collection of western art, including some copies of Remingtons.
